Sara Zamora – Lead Teacher/Program Coordinator

Ms. Sara recently moved to Austin from Houston with her husband, and they are already enjoying all that this beautiful city has to offer.

Ms. Sara grew up in The Woodlands, TX, just outside of Houston but decided to experience a different part of the country for college, so she moved to Boston where she received a Bachelor’s of Art in English from the Tufts University. After graduation, she began her teaching career as the Spanish teacher at a Montessori school in the Boston area. Eventually, she found her way back to Texas where she began working as an assistant teacher in a Lower Elementary Montessori classroom. It was a marvelous experience, and it led Ms. Sara to pursue the Lower Elementary certification at the Houston Montessori Center (HMC).  After completing her training, she served as the Lead Teacher in the Lower Elementary classroom at Sherwood Forest Montessori School in Houston, TX. for seven years.

In 2014, she joined the staff at the Houston Montessori Center. She is the instructor of the language portion of the E1 training course.  She also works as a field consultant for HMC, in which she observes and mentors other Montessori teachers.

Alyssa Muir – Assistant

Ms. Alyssa is a patient and loving teacher.  She received a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance with an emphasis in Musical Theater from the University of Colorado at Boulder. She has close to a decade of experience working with young children and has always been fascinated by their curiosity and love for learning and is proud to be part of teaching and guiding the future leaders of our world.

Ms. Alyssa had been intrigued by the Montessori educational method for years, and after some research and observation of how children thrived through this form of teaching, she was hooked. She loves how Montessori promotes self-discipline and independence and is amazed by the children’s willingness to learn from one another and to calmly approach the day-to-day tasks. She believes that children need good, positive, open-minded, and kind role models, and she is happy for the opportunity to be one of them.
